Letters To My Younger Self: On Luck
Dear Younger Self,
I read somewhere that today (11.11.11) is a lucky day. Stars are aligning I guess to bring people more luck, I am not so sure whether that’s good or bad luck. Anyhow, I just want to remind you that no matter how bad or good your luck goes; never forget that you are blessed.
How are you blessed? You might ask.
Well for one, you are here.
You got clothes on and probably even with matching shoes, you are blessed with talent in writing, and interpreting weird dreams. You partly own a typewriter (the blue one’s bought by your dad) that you can use to write letters for your best friends (see? you’ve got people you call best friend), or write a script for a short home movie about cats or your next-door neighbor’s elicit affairs. You are here and you are free, free to choose to do things your way and choose whether to finish them or not. You have a mom you can argue with and then compare nail colours afterwards, not that you wear nail polish, but that's a possibility of a good memory to keep. You might not have won the lottery (yet), yes, but that doesnt mean you're unlucky, maybe you have never bought enough tickets in the first place, remember lottery is like a popularity contest, you must hoard them tickets to win.
So if you ever come across an article about how dates could bring you luck and come across people that could scare you to death about it... don’t panic. Breathe and look around and in you. No ornaments, magical powers, even re-arranging your furniture 8x per year could ever change the course of your fate. And again, no matter how good or bad you luck is; it always comes with a blessing of experience, new seasons, new best friends and probably a new typewriter that you can call your own.
Keep on moving forward and count every blessing, let the dates help recount these things for you. And enjoy whatever 11.11.11 brings you.
♥xo♥
Your older mushier self.
