Cozy Halloween

Who said that the eve of Halloween can't be that lovely? Hello there, I spent the evening arranging flowers with the help of a pair of little clever hands. We lit some tea candles and enjoyed the beauty of our expertly arranged flowers over a warm cuppa.. and a bottle of milk! hee hee

My little Alphie helped me sort and place the flowers in this sweet white pitcher vase I bought from Ikea a couple of weeks ago. Forgive me for the poor resolution of the photos, as I only took them with my ever reliable iphone camera.

In our small way, we offer flowers, candles and prayers to loved ones who have passed away. In my hometown, Halloween and all souls' and saints' day are a long celebration, a national public holiday that draws families closer in remembering the dead and celebrating the feast of the Saints. Families would spend the whole day (even through the night) in the cemetery on the eve and the day of Halloween, having picnic as they gather around the tomb of their deceased.

When I was young, we dont get to do that as much as we want to, because we live quite far from where our deceased loved ones are buried, so we would just stay home and help our "nanay" (grandmother) arrange flowers, light the candles on the doorstep and enjoy her home cooked "meriendas" (desserts, pastries). We will share ghosts stories and listen to some from our nanay. Well, nothing's changed much now though, even now that I have my own family, I still don't get to go on picnics at the cemetery on Halloween... but I still get to arrange flowers and offer prayers although there are no more meriendas prepared by my nanay, I get to do all these in the eve of Halloween with the sweetest person in my life.

I hope you find peace and joy in your celebration, and may the spirit of Halloween bring you good memories and only the friendliest ghosts! I will try to post some horrible photos about halloween tomorrow if I can, haha *^_^*

Goodnight.

Nights Full of Magic

The wand of the wizard has been waved and cast a spell of wonder upon these beasts, now they're able ride above the clouds and kiss the stars. They may peek through your windows so please don't forget to say hello to my sweet friends... the magical ponies!

Hee hee! Hello there friends, and so we are ending the month of October with a bit of cheer and chill, don't you think? We start off with Halloween, yes? November's just around the corner bringing us more of those pixie dusts and old tales of ghosts, and magic. The wind is a bit chilly in my hometown by now... how I miss welcoming the "ber" months (from September thru December) with my sweater, old pair of socks and hot cup of coco or coffee! It's so nice to sit on our front porch at this time, with the buzzing mosquitoes, the huge moon hanging up the beautiful October sky and the dusty old guitar in my arms...

Some of you may be wondering where did these ponies came from... I've got them from Mc Donald's happy meal - My Little Pony collection! My girls love the happy meal toys and I particularly like this set that came out this 2011. Too bad they've ran out of stock, so these are the left overs from the collection... I wonder how many are there. I would love to collect all of them...

I used the wonderful iphone photo apps on these photos... it added more magic to it than I've expected. My girls really enjoy looking at them, well I hope you do too. And my the "ber" months give you more than magic, but joy and remembrance of both the sweet and not so sweet times of your life. Most especially do not forget to start making a list! Christmas is bursting with excitement to greet you after November's done with its share of magical nights.

And I am off to bed... but here's another pony for you my dearest, who ever you are, may your dreams bring you positive thoughts and inspiration for the remaining days and nights of 2011!

Paul

There are moments that I long to spend with you, I wish you had stayed.
That night you fooled everybody; you said you’re studying late.
But boys will boys and they run at top speed,
Not knowing the danger of foolishness in their young years.

I long to lay on the grass with you again, like we used to, just looking at the clouds and dream.
But night falls and you’ll never be home again, how long has it been?
The last memory I have of you is the last time we held hands.
You said you wish we grew old together; maybe our kids will also be friends.

I long to see you again you know, but you are way up in the air.
October has come; did my balloon reach you this time? I always wonder.
Sometimes I do wish you stayed out of trouble, you could have called me instead.
You know I will find time to be with you. But as you always say, there is no room for regret.

There aren’t many boys in this world like you Paul.
No one admires my unruly hair like you do.
And despite of all these years you are out of sight,
My heart remembers you.

Remembrance...

Hello my sweet readers, how have you been?

I have been busy with a lot of things at work, and have not the opportunity to post much. Hope you had a fruitful September month yourself.

So today, I just want to share that October is one of the memorable months for me, it is the month when I said yes to becoming the girlfriend to my Mr. Mister, and one of my best friends' birthday month.

This month brings both joyful and sad memories back... I wrote a very short poem about remembering people, of where they used to be in our lives and how we take for granted their presence...

it wrote:

"dusk.remembering...

It is only when one is gone that another remembers; the one who seems to be everywhere, seems to be constantly there.
One cannot remember instantly the other; when they were there, when they were everywhere, constantly."

May your memories and thoughts be filled of the most joyous, and may the painful thoughts not linger and grow into sadness in the depths of your heart.
